Seeing the umpteenth sexist meme on reddit has compelled me to make this post. Now, I usually hate anything that involves reddit and memes. Mostly because they run them into the ground. I’m also a little wary of reddit. For being a community that prides itself on being so liberal and progressive, they sure do like to spout racist/homophobic/sexist shit.
So, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to say reddit loves sexist memes. Don’t believe me? Let’s take a look at some of the advice animals where the subject is a woman. Taken from quickmeme, /r/adviceanimals go to meme site.

Now there are a few more memes with a woman in it, but those either weren’t entirely sexism based (don’t get me wrong, there were some sexist ones), or they were about a single woman (But still, sexist stuff was said).
But that’s 17. 17 memes that exist purely to be sexist. Now before you go asking “What about the menz?!” I counted. There were a few that targeted men, but mostly racist ones. Not many that would target a cis, early 20’s white male, Reddit’s big demographic.
But let’s look at that list. Some, like the Sheltered Suburban Kid and Sheltered College Freshman could have been used in a gender neutral way to make fun of those sheltered people. But nope, since it has a girl on the picture, redditors and meme users had to ruin it.
The one that bugs me the most is Cool Chick Carol? Is she cool because she does friendly good deeds, like Good Guy Greg? Nope! She’s a cool chick because she acts out redditors teenage sexual fantasies. So there ya go. Women are only cool if they put out. Awesome message.
Honestly, I don’t know the whole point of this post. I’m just tired of reddit’s bullshit.
